Sunshine Kids Care Punggol Make Every Drop Count Project

As we embarked on the project on ‘Make every drop count’, we practised saving water in school. Children brainstormed the ways to save water by various means such as turning off the tap, reusing dirty water and collecting rainwater etc.

The playgroup children were introduced to the story on ‘Water Wally and Sally’ and the song ‘Turn off the Tap’ and the pre-nursery children work on saving water by turning off the tap when they were washing hands.

The K1 children utilised the water for washing hands to wash and flush the toilet so as to minimise water wastage, the water for plants can be used again by placing the water in a spray bottle to control the amount of water to water the plants.

With the increased in the amount of rainfall, we took the opportunity to collect rainwater outside the school by placing pails and recycled water bottles.

The rainwater collected was transferred to the water bottle and given to the school’s cleaning auntie, Lee Sun, for washing the toilet.

Auntie Lee Sun used the rainwater efficiently by cleaning the floor, the faucet,  the shower head, dustpan and using it to flush the toilet.
