SSDB2017-Little Hands Helping Hands

The teachers read them stories to introduce them about our beautiful world. One of the books read was the Karang Guni Boy where rhe learned how to collect recyled materials for art. The children started with trying to make their playground and the park outside the school clean by picking up litter there. Then they go on their nature walk singing ‘Save the World’.

To celebrate Father’s Day, the children went to the beach with their dads for beach cleaning. They discovered a dead little fish, which makes them all the more determined that the beach must be kept clean in order for the animals to survived so that they won’t get trapped and chocked in the rubbish. They spent quality time with their dads after the beach cleaning, having a picnic and playing on the clean beach.

The teacher also create awareness of service learning on how the children can help to beautify their school by decorating the rubbbish bins in the school and making picture displays using bottle caps.

The children made craftwork using recycled and commercial materials to sell in an Art Sale. They donated the proceeds to ACRE who they know will use it to create more awareness to care for the environment and care for animals around us.

The ACRE represensatives also came to give th children a talk about caring for the environment and animal.

It was a successful fund praising event. Most of the parents turned up to buy their artwork and contributed to the donation.
