N2 Protecting Plant Biodiversity

N2 children were engaged in a project in relation to biodiversity. The children were involved in investigations leading to the specifics on plant biodiversity where they tapped on their prior knowledge on plants through a KWL discussion to begin their project. At the end of the project, the children gathered their findings and presented it in a showcase. The project provided children with the opportunities to enhance their investigation skills through reading, taking photos to gather evidence as well as speaking and working with peers and other people with confidence.

N2 children conducted various activities on how to protect plant biodiversity. Children demonstrated their responsibility as they helped pot, water and take care the plants. They have planted a variety of seeds to grow and make it sustainable in a greenhouse.

They were also engaged in recycling. They explored that reducing waste through recycling is one way of protecting biodiversity.

The project culmination was integrated with the “Start Small Dream Big Program, an initiative of Early Childhood Agency (ECDA). N2 children and parents were encouraged to design campaign posters on how to protect plant and other biodiversity. They implemented community clean up and advocacy to keep the environment clean. The children used their posters to create awareness of the importance of taking care the community and environment.
