This year, the children and teachers were inspired to spread kindness towards the elders at Lions Befrienders Singapore after a visit to one of the Senior Activity Centres during Lunar New Year.
The children visited the elders at the Ang Mo Kio branch and put up a Lunar New Year song and dance performance for them. The elders and children had an enjoyable time interacting with one another.
Motivated by this experience, the children and teachers brainstormed for ideas to raise funds for the Lions Befrienders Singapore.
Together with the teachers, the children held a carnival in school to raise funds. There was a booth selling mason jars decorated by all levels, game booths and local snacks such as corn cup and herbal eggs for sale. The parents also supported the event by donating books and stationery for sale.
The children will continue to spread kindness to more elders as we plan for another trip to a Senior Activity Centre.
