SSDB Project - Caring For Our Community

Pertapis Children’s Home

On 17th April, we launched the SSDB Project at My First Skool @ Blk 612 Yishun. We invited the parents as well and shared with them about the project.

On 25th April, we visited the Pertapis Children’s Home as part of the project. Prior to the visit, we shared with our K1 children about the project and talked about the Pertapis Children’s Home. We also emphasized on the message of “No one can do everything. But everyone can do something’.

On our first visit to PCH, the children from PCH lead the way and showed us around their premises. The next activity that we had planned, was to enable the children from the PCH and My First Skool to interact and build a bond. The children from both the PCH and My First Skool sat down together to make a craft - a pencil holder. As they were working on their craft, the children from the PCH were guiding (as most of them were older) the younger children from My First Skool.

Break-Fast Event

Prior to this event, we took the opportunity to share with our children about the month of Ramadan observed by the Muslim community. The children in My First Skool learnt that the children in the PCH would also be fasting. The children were curious about participating in the ‘break- fast’ event with PCH children. All the children brought drinks that were donated by their parents for this event.

The children from My First Skool, observed the children from the PCH reciting their Quran and praying. They waited patiently and ate when the children from the PCH broke their fast. This was a good experience for our children to learn about showing care and respect for another.
