Beach Clean- up @ Sembawang Beach

Today we went to the Sembawang Beach to do clean-up. We were very curious about what will we find in the beach where we believe is very clean. Even some children said that “ Beaches in Singapore is clean”. So we were very curious about what we are going to find there and clean up.

So we started at 8.20 a.m. and reached at Sembawang beach at 9.00 a.m. There was 2 members of the S.E.A Aquarium team waiting there with all the equipments that we needed for the clean-up such as tongs, activity sheets, gloves for all the children and big black plastic bags.

We started our clean-up at 9.30a.m. as we went to the toilet first before it. Then we collect alot of plastics and other items at the beach such as styrofoam pieces and cigarette buds. These 2 was the highest number of waste that we found at the beach. We had 45 minutes to clean the beach and our rubbish that we collected weighed 4.5 kilograms.

We came back to the centre at 11.35a.m. and we were all very tired but delighted that we could do our part to help our ocean. We believe in the slogan “Healthy Ocean Healthy Us!”.

As for our post sharing we do on today itself as their minds are still fresh with information of the beach clean-up at the Sembawang beach. Children were very excited about the clean-up and they would like to do it again and contribute more to the ocean a d its creatures. Children were also amazed about the amount of rubbish that we collected which was 4.5 kilograms and there was more at the beach still. We are pleased to watch these little children being so considerate to the marine life and the ocean.
