Balik Kampung! - MOE Kindergarten@Westwood

After the exciting and emotionally-filled launch party, our journey of SSDB this year brings us to our next and very special event - our very first Racial Harmony Celebration with Grandparents!

In the spirit of showing appreciation and celebrating the Merdeka Generation, we extended special invitations to our grandparents to come dressed in 1970s fashion with their lovely grandchildren in hand to celebrate Racial Harmony in school. And on 25th July 2019, we witnessed the wonderful inter-generational gathering of the attendees!

Our Racial Harmony celebration this year was themed “Balik Kampung!” and like the name suggests, we have numerous multi-cultural activities that brings them back to the olden, kampung days all lined up for the celebration!

We have booths of traditional foods like Idiyappam, Satay and Tang Yuan! Yummy!

For the grandparents with creative fingers, we have art and crafts booths as well! Look at all their colourful masterpieces!

To allow the grandparents to truly go back in time and experience their younger days, we set up game booths that give grandparents and their grandchildren the golden opportunity to bond over their exciting childhood games!

These truly showcase the skills of the grandparents who spent the time growing up playing classic games like Five Stones, Bola Tin, Hopscotch and Zero Point!

There was also a surprise fashion show! Some grandparent-grandchild pairs were selected and called on stage to strut their stuff.

These stylish attendees were presented with a token of appreciation, well done to all!

The highlight of the celebration was the special segment of dance-along with the children and their grandparents! The teachers and the children of MK@WW prepared a special song and dance for the grandparents! The song used for this special segment was created and choreographed by the teachers in MK@WW! The song includes snippets of popular songs of the olden days in Chinese, Malay and Tamil! Everyone stood excitedly as they watch the teachers’ demonstration on stage and not long after, everyone began dancing together!

The dance-along puts everyone in a festive mood, and the grandparents looked like they had the most fun!

Everyone came and left with a smile, an event to truly remember! We hope you enjoyed looking at the photos too.

Now… onto the next one!
