World Water Day 2023 - 22 March 2023 - Saving Water Starts With Me!

Every year, the PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency, runs the Singapore World Water Day campaign for the whole of March to remind Singaporeans to conserve water. Globally, the UN’s annual World Water Day is commemorated on 22 March. Children from SKC were involved  in water rationing and art activities to celebrate World Water day every Wednesday of the week in the month of March. We commemorated the World Water Day with a parade from SKC to the Sengkang Wetland floating platform. The children sing and dance on the save water songs. They bring along the posters, banners and Water droplet hats made by them in past weeks .

During the first week of world water month, the children were engaged in a presentation by the class teachers about the importance of water, uses of water, and the different ways we can conserve water. The children were able to share the ways they use water and how they would want to save water. The different levels made their own artwork in preparation for World Water Day Parade March. The N2s did a group banner and the K1s to K2s did a poster.

For the second week of World Water Month, the K1s and K2s did a diorama of the water cycle and a reservoir of water. The N2s did an water bottle rationing activity. The N2s were limited to using one water bottle of water for the activity. The children showed and shared how they used the rationed water.

In the third week of World Water Month, the N2 children went on a Field Trip to Bishan Park @ Ang Mo Kio. There, they learnt about the water bodies, and the different ways Singapore make use of nature and water to create our Largest Urban Park. The children did a nature scavenger hunt and waterplay at the Stepping Stones with their mummies and daddies! The K1 children used the school’s water tanks to retrieve water from it to use to water the plants! And as for the K2s, they wrote short stories of how they would want to use water wisely and save water!

Lastly, the children had a parade from the school to the floating river area. They were dressed up in blue and brought their creative props. K1 and K2 had a presentation in which they danced and sang.

Don’t let the water drip! How will you save our precious waters?
