The theme of our annual Little Entrepreneur Project was “Singapore Little Treasures”. This latter was chosen in support of the Innovation Guidance Project which the children and teachers had embarked since last May 2017. The Innovation Guidance Project is a partnership with the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) whereby our teachers will work on a project with the children to enhance their learning experiences and enhance the quality of preschool programmes and teaching-learning practices.
Prior to the project, our children visited the Peranakan Museum to have a better understanding of the Peranakan Culture. They also embarked on a learning journey on otters at the Singapore Zoo. Together with their teachers, our children made and sold ornamental plates, key bowls, tea cup sets and pouches decorated with motifs of the Peranakan culture. They also set up games booths, a second-hand bookstore, and made attractive banners to publicise the event, and invited parents to come and support their learning journey cum fund raising project. The amount raised was donated to Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS) in support of the otters.
This realization of the Little Entrepreneur project was made possible with the support of children, parents and teachers. The children now have a better understanding of the danger of extinction of the native animals, and how they could help make the natural landscape a better place for these animals, especially the otters.
