Making a Difference in Our Little Ways by Kinderland Preschool, Ministry of National Development  (MND)

An outing to the Singapore Zoo was organised to introduce the children on the importance and need to protect the otters, as they are part of Singapore’s native wildlife. The teachers brainstormed with the children on the types of the activities they could embark on to raise funds for the Wildlife Reserve Singapore Conservation Funds. Under their teacher’s guidance, the children packed biscuits into containers and decorated the containers with illustrations of otters.

On 21 July 2017, parents were invited to join their children to create an eco-friendly terrarium at the centre in conjunction with our Innovation Guidance Project, “Our City in a Garden”. Parents and children were provided with glass containers, clay pebbles, soil, plants and figurines to make their terrarium, as well as learnt the steps involved, through a power point presentation.

The children shared the conservation message with their parents, peers and potential customers as they manned their store, selling the terrariums and biscuits. Through this project, the children learnt about team work and social skills. The project also promoted parent-child bonding with the former’s involvement and assistance.
