Learning more about our peers in Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore (CPAS)

APRIL: Activity 1 - Storytelling (All Levels)

The first activity in this project involved children from all levels (PG to K2), where they developed a deeper understanding of their peers who have learning or developmental needs through storytelling. Some of the books that were read to them were ‘This Beach is Loud!’ by Samantha Cotterill, ‘The Perfect Project: A book about autism’ by Tracy Packlam, as well as ‘My Life with Cerebral Palsy’ by More Schuh. These books have certainly helped both teachers and children develop a better comprehension of the challenges and differences that children with special needs face in their daily lives.

Through this activity, the children managed to discover more about the importance of inclusion and their vital roles in supporting and assisting their peers with special needs. Additionally, towards the end of the activity, children from all levels also shared the different ways they can show empathy and kindness towards their peers with the class. K1 and K2 children have also illustrated their learning points, which are displayed on the classroom’s SSDB board.
