Handmade paper from recycled materials! - Our Green City (Part 2)

Our first activity for this project was to create posters to advocate for waste reduction within our school community. There is no better way to create posters than to make them using our own paper! The children were involved in the process of:

  1. Tearing recycled paper/newspaper

  2. Blending the paper with water and making a vat of pulp

  3. Using the mould and decile to pull some sheets

  4. Sponging and pressing our paper

  5. Drying the paper

The handmade paper will be used for the posters that will be put around the school to advocate for the 3Rs in our community.

Tearing the recycled paper and adding them to the blender filled with water.

Using the mould and deckle to pull some sheets and press the paper.

Sponging the paper to remove excess water.

Using the hairdryer to dry our paper!

Our final product!

What a fun experience this was for the children and even teachers!
