Being kind towards the environment ❤️

Our responsibility.

For this year’s SSDB (Start Small Dream Big) Project, we’re focusing on our role as a responsible citizen. It touches on the importance of taking care of the environment around us. Additionally, this year’s project has embarked on a teamwork between the child and the parents to work closely together on the project. Our Centre has decided to work on a ‘Composting Project’ where it aims to create an awareness to the children through educating them the importance of recycling waste and conserving landfill space. Also, it instills a sense of responsibility in them to nourish and care for the environment.

This ‘Compost Project’ allows the parents to spend some quality time with the child in working together to DIY their own method of composting using recycled materials such as tissue paper, fruits skin, garden wastes, paper, and vegetable scraps. As seen in the captured images, the children were engaged in the activities of composting the ingredients that they have recycled such as fruit skins like banana and apple skins. Through this initiative, the children learnt that composting is an organic matter that has been decomposed and recycled as a fertilizer and soil amendment. It is commonly used in gardens, landscaping, horticulture and agriculture. The compost itself is beneficial for the land in many ways, including as a soil conditioner, a fertilizer, addition of vital humus or humic acids, and as a natural pesticide for soil.
