Back to the Good Old Days - Knowing more about our Community

To further promote our annual project of giving back to the community, our children were introduced to the mascot Sharity Elephant and had a short discussion of how we can care and share with needy families. Besides showing their care and share for the needy, our children also used a dolly to express their care towards others.

An article of kindness by Singaporeans was shown to the children to show that compassion can spread faster than the virus. Examples of acts of kindness were people offering free masks, bringing back the kampung spirit by delivering groceries or food to those under home quarantine, free food for healthcare workers and more. From this, children understand how kindness matters and can make a change in someone else’s life.

Children were also introduced to the mascot; Singa the Lion, which was created to educate Singaporeans on courtesy and graciousness. They also learned about Singapore Kindness Movement which taught them to spare a thought for people around them and that kindness matters. Our children then shared about ways they could be kind.

Tying in with living a healthier lifestyle, our children were introduced to the “Healthier Choice” logo and learned to identify the logo on different food packaging. They then worked in teams of 2 and participated in a simple “Hunting For Healthy Food Obstacle Course”. It was essential to not only educate children to give back to society, but also understand that choosing healthier food options is vital.
